How Do You Make Funky Loopy Hair Bows?
Decorative hair bows add personality to your wardrobe. From simple beaded barrettes to colorful loopy designs, hair bows can call attention to any hairstyle. Make your own loopy hair bows from thin ribbons, shoestrings or a combination of the two. Add jingle bells, buttons, photo charms or other funky embellishments to add distinctive style to your hair accessories. Open your imagination and look around your home for odd objects that speak to your mood or sense of style. You can find split-style barrette forms at craft and discount stores. Open the wavy metal barrette so that the clip section is out of the way of the top section. Place the open barrette in a horizontal position on a flat work surface. One of the split metal sides is at the top, and one is at the bottom. Cut 20 12-inch long strands of 1/8-inch wide satin ribbon. Center one ribbon strand around the bottom side of the split barrette so that the ends are even. Knot the ends of the ribbon together in a double overhand knot.
