How Do You Make Folded Ribbon Headbands?

0

Dress up a plain headband with a length of satin or velvet ribbon, and you have an accessory that enhances your outfit. You can buy several plain headbands and different ribbons to match more than one outfit. Making folded ribbon headbands is easy and inexpensive, and it doesn’t take much time. With just a few supplies, you can create new headbands for yourself, friends or relatives. Wrap the ribbon around your head, allowing it to extend 2 inches beyond each ear. It should just barely meet at the back of your head. Make two 1/2-inch folds at each end of the ribbon. Tack each fold with needle and thread. Slip the elastic cord through each hemmed ribbon end. Try it on for proper fit, then tie the ends of the cord together. Trim away the extra cord. Cut the ribbon in half lengthwise and lay one half on top of the other, with the ‘wrong’ sides together. Sew the pieces together using an overcast stitch, blanket stitch or hidden stitch. Thread the headband through the ribbon cover and fold
