How Do You Make Fishing Rods From Round Bamboo?
A good way to introduce children to fishing is to make fishing rods from round bamboo. This makes an easy-to-use “drop line,” eliminating the need for children to navigate or operate a complex fishing rod and reel set up. Step 1 Use the knife to remove any rough edges from the bamboo pole. Step 2 Lightly sand the bamboo pole, smoothing over any rough spots, particularly near the handle (fatter) end. Step 3 Cut a “V” shaped notch about an inch from the smaller end of the pole, going all the way through one side. If it is difficult to cut a notch with a knife, drill a small hole.
