How Do You Make Extra Money “Recycling”?
Need extra cash? Easy money can be found on Garbage Day! Check your local laws. Many cities have restrictions against “garbage-picking”, “recycling”, “dumpster-diving”, or “treasure-hunting”. Tickets and fines will quickly eat up any potential profits. Research garbage pick-up days in the upper middle-class areas of your town (my experience shows the group to be the most wasteful). Shortly after dusk on the eve of garbage day, on your own or with a friend (for heavy lifting), slowly cruise through your chosen neighborhoods looking for “treasures”. Once your vehicle is loaded up, head home and take inventory of your goods. Sort items by the amount of work required for resale. If upon closer inspection you determine an item is not saleable, just put it in your trash. Take pictures of the items that are sale-ready and post an ad for each item on Craig’s List (free) or eBay (may be additional costs).
