How Do You Make Essential Herbal Oils?
Herbs harvested from your garden or windowsill can add flavor to your recipes, be ingredients for sachets, or serve as the essence for essential herbal oils. Essential oils capture the unique scents of nature, such as rosemary, basil or garlic. Perfume makers use essential oils to give fragrance to their creations. You can make essential herbal oils at home, with this basic recipe. Take several cuttings of the herb you intend to use, and secure the bunch with twine wrapped around the stem. Hang herbs upside down until dried. Combine ΒΌ oz. of the herb you have dried with 1 cup of olive oil. If you want to make more, double or triple the recipe. Seal in a glass mason jar and place in the sun for two weeks. Strain the oil into a clean jar. Discard the dry herb that was removed by straining.
