Egg pie crusts are delicious, especially when you’ve made one yourself. Whether you’re filling it with a sweet or savory filling, your family and friends will be sure to thank you when it’s time to eat the pie you’ve made. Chances are good that they’ll think it was much more difficult and time-consuming than it actually was. In reality, it’s not so difficult—but you can keep that part to yourself as a chef’s secret. Combine flour and salt together; mix by hand until completely combined, and set aside. You can sift them if you’d like, but it’s not necessary. If using a stand mixer, proceed to Step 2. If mixing by hand, proceed to Step 3. Place cold butter chunks in the bottom of your mixer’s bowl. Add sugar and beat at low speed until just combined. Add the egg and mix until just combined.
