How Do You Make Easy Star-Spangled Strawberry & Blueberry Trifle?
This red, white and blue trifle is perfect as a dessert for Memorial Day or Fourth of July cookouts. It’s so quick and simple even the kids can put it together. It travels well and is big enough to serve a crowd of 15-20. This recipe serves 15-20, depending on size of serving. Carefully rinse and set aside a few strawberries and blueberries for decoration on top of trifle. Rinse remaining strawberries, remove stem and leaves with paring knife or corer. Slice strawberries into a utility bowl. Rinse and drain blueberries; set aside in small bowl. On cutting board, slice angel food or pound cake into 1-inch cubes. Place cubes in utility bowl. Be sure frozen whipped topping is completely thawed before starting trifle assembly. Trifle assembly – Begin first layer by placing 1/3 of cake cubes in bottom of bowl.
