How Do You Make Easy, Crunchy Breadsticks?

0

These are not fancy breadsticks, but are inexpensive, easy and very good. Serve with soup or as a snack. Make plenty of these breadsticks because they are great munchies! Preheat oven to 170-200 degrees. If the oven is much hotter, the breadsticks will brown too fast but won’t be crunchy. Spread each piece of bread with butter or margarine. Sprinkle with Italian seasoning and basil. Stack 4 or 5 slices of prepared bread on top of each other. With a large, sharp knife, cut through the stack making 5 strips from each piece of bread at once. Repeat until all bread is sliced. Spray the cookie sheet with a VERY LIGHT coating of Pam. Place the breadsticks on the cookie sheet, buttered side up. Bake until breadsticks are crunchy, at least an hour. You can flip them over after about 30 minutes if desired. If they are still not crunchy, let cook for 15-20 minutes longer. Serve in a pretty napkin-lined basket. They will disappear rapidly, so be sure you make a lot! Enjoy!
