How do you make DivX, my default player to specific types of files?

The only reason you can’t do that is because you probably don’t have the DivX codec and application(s) installed. Go to http://www.divx.com and download the DivX 6.5 package and install it, then reboot your PC. Once you do, do again the right-click on your .divx file and you should be able to see there the option that says “Open with…” as you already know. What’s more, installing the DivX you would not have to do that, because by default all .divx files will be opened with the DivX player that comes in that package. After than, you can either leave it playing by default with the DivX player, or you can do the right-click “Open With…” thing and choose your favorite player. Windows Media Player will play the .divx files also, as long as the DivX codec is installed, again, you need to download the DivX package from the website I mentioned above, and then you will be all set. I hope this helped.
