How Do You Make Decorative Cake Boxes?
Making small decorative cake boxes is easy and fun. These boxes use basic origami techniques and very few materials. The same box making techniques will also work for cookie and candy boxes. These make ideal wedding or party favors and also work well for gift giving, even when the gift is not cake. Be sure to allow space for icing and decorations when you choose the box size. If you are gifting larger cakes, you may wish to purchase and decorate cake boxes rather than making your own. Cut two squares of card stock or lightweight cardboard, one slightly larger than the other by approximately 1/2 inch in length and width. Keep in mind that the actual size of your box will be much smaller than the size of your initial square. A 6-by-6-inch square of paper will produce a cake box with a 2 1/2-inch square bottom.
