How Do You Make Deck Posts Larger?
Over the years a deck’s surface can sag and settle. Often this is a normal process that is subtle enough that no remedy is necessary. If, however, the surface is either substantially sagging or otherwise unstable, the decks infrastructure will need to be repaired. One way to sure up the infrastructure is to enlarge the deck posts. While this process may seem difficult and time consuming, the process is actually simple when a few basic steps are followed. Measure the height from the ground to the bottom of the deck joists. Subtract the height of the hydraulic cylinder jack from that number and cut the 4 by 4 post to that height. For example, if the ground to joist measurement is 48 inches and the jack is 8 inches tall, cut the post to 40 inches. Select the first post to be replaced. Set the jack next to the selected post directly under one of the deck joists. place the 4 by 4 post between the jack and the joist. Increase the pressure between the jack and the joist enough to release the
