Many of us have found that cutting glass in our studios is a hit or miss proposition. However, art glass patterns don’t have to be difficult. Many people have only the basic skills needed to cut glass pieces for a lamp or windows, and find that they often break their glass in areas they don’t want to. How can you make it easier to cut glass? Here are a few simple tips that will help you. Remember – before you’re ready to put your glass in a gallery, you have to be able to cut it reliably. First, make sure you’re not pressing too hard. How will you know if you’re cutting your glass patterns too firmly? The score line will be highly visible and small shards of glass may be apparent as the cutting wheel moves across the surface of the glass.
