How Do You Make Cuff Top Valances?
Cuff top valances add charm and appeal to any window. The valances can be used in a variety of rooms depending on the fabric pattern you choose. The interest is created with a coordinating fabric turned to the front. This fabric creates the look of a cuff on the top side of the valance. The cuff top valance can be used alone or in conjunction with sheers, blinds or panels. Changing the fabric print and colors allow these valances to be highly customizable when you make them yourself. This valance will fit a 36-inch wide window, but can be adapted for any size. Press the fabric panels. Measure and mark a piece of the front fabric 40 by 16 inches long. Cut the panel along these marks. Measure a piece and mark of coordinating fabric 40 by 4 inches long. Cut the panel of fabric along these marks. Fold the fabric strip in half lengthwise. Press the fold. Cut a piece of the coordinating fabric into a strip that measures 36 by 1 inch wide.
