How Do You Make Cuban Picadillo (Ground Beef)?
Picadillo is a traditional dish in many Latin American countries, with varying ingredients depending on the region. The Cuban version includes olives and raisins and is usually served with black beans, rice, and fried (very ripe) plantains. Preparation Time: 45 minutes to 1 hour. Serving Size: 4 persons. Add a splash of olive oil to a large skillet on low to medium heat. Once skillet is heated, add the ground beef. Stir the beef frequently until it browns (cook the meat until it looks as if it is almost fully cooked, but still has a little pink in some spots). Now add the onion, green pepper, and garlic. Continue stirring and cook until the onion, green pepper, and garlic look translucent. Stir in the olives, raisins, bay leaves, tomato sauce, white wine, oregano, salt, and pepper. Cover and simmer on low to medium heat, while stirring regularly. Once the liquids evaporate (usually about 20-30 minutes), remove the bay leaves and serve.
