How Do You Make Crystals Out Of Liquid Starch?
The most difficult part of making crystals from liquid starch can be finding rhe liquid starch in the first place. Check in the cleaning or laundry section of a large supermarket or general merchandise store like WalMart, Walgreen’s, or K-Mart. Purchase a half gallon or more of liquid starch. Tie heavy string to create a clothes line. Hang clothes soaked in liquid starch on the line to dry. Put paper towels down to catch any drips. Fill a glass bowl with liquid starch. Soak clean cotton cloths in the starch and then hang the starch-soaked cloths on the line to dry. Set up the line outside in direct sun if possible. Allow 2 to 6 hours, depending on the temperature. Set your oven to 100 degree F. Place the cloths on a cookie sheet and put in the oven for 60 to 90 minutes. Place a totally dry cloth in a large plastic baggie and beat with a wooden spoon to knock the crystals of starch out and into the baggie. Remove the first cloth and add in a new one.
