How Do You Make Country Fried Tempeh Steak W/ Country Gravy?
Following a Vegan or Vegetarian diet does not have to be boring and uneventfull. This great Southern Style meal reminds me of being home in North Florida. Tempeh is a great meat substitute and it is high in protien. Tempeh is made from fermented soy beans and can even be made at home. Soak Tempeh in soy milk for at least 2 hours up to over night. Peel half of the potatoes and cut them into even chunks. Start potatoes off in cold water and boil until very tender. Season flour with your favorite seasonings like creole seasoning and garlic salt. Pat steaks dry and dip in flour, dip back in soy milk then back in flour. Fry in a cast iron pan until golden brown on both sides. Make gravy by heating silken tofu and veggie stock in a small saucepan. Let simmer for 10-15 minutes. Season as desired. When mashed potatoes are tender strain the water and replace in the pot. Add butter flavored spread, broth and soy milk to taste. Grate in a bit of fresh garlic.
