How Do You Make Couch Slipcovers Using Sheets?
Changing the look of a worn out or mismatching couch is as easy as putting a slipcover over it. Fortunately, you do not have to pay a lot of money to buy one or be a sewing whiz to make it yourself. Regular flat sheets can do the job if you know how to place them correctly. Measure your couch from the top of the back rest, over the seat and to the floor. Also, measure the couch from the floor on one side, down over the seat and to the floor on the other side. To each of these measurements, add an extra 10 to 12 inches for tucking. Based on the finished sheet measurements available and the measurements of your couch, determine if you will need to seam two sheets together to cover the entire couch and to leave room for tucking the excess in. Choose a flat sheet that has a fairly high thread count or is a sturdy cotton. Flannel sheets should be avoided because they will eventually stretch out of shape.
