How Do You Make Concrete Test Cylinders?
Concrete test cylinders are concrete poured into empty cylinders. Workers allow these cylinders to harden, then stand buy as someone tests their quality. Testing concrete ensures that the materials you use for construction have the right property and texture. Measuring the strength of concrete is one objective of conducting these tests. The concrete has to be strong enough to maintain a building’s integrity, and ultimately its value as a safe place to work. This concept also applies to other projects that use concrete building material. Step 1 Choose a location you can make test cylinders in; it should be somewhere the cylinders won’t get knocked over or disturbed. Collect 1 cubic foot of concrete into the wheelbarrow; take no more than 15 minutes to do this. Place a plastic sheet over this concrete sample to protect it from the elements. Push the wheelbarrow to the location where you want to create the test cylinder; then stir the concrete. Step 2 Write labels on the empty cylinders (
