How Do You Make Coffee Taste Better?
Coffee oils tend to stick to coffee pots and coffee pot parts and can lead to bitter tasting coffee. You will find these instructions useful in removing that oil residue (especially if you have a thermal carafe). Purchase a cleaner that is made specifically for coffee pots or purchase sodium carbonate. Sodium carbonate is also known as soda ash and can usually be found in a pool supply store. Place a small amount of cleaner into your carafe and fill with hot water. Let stand for several minutes. Wash carafe with dish soap and rinse thoroughly as you normally would to remove any residue. Occasionally use to clean the inside of your coffee pot. Place a small amount of cleaner into carafe and add a small amount of hot water. Stir to dissolve cleaner. Finish filling carafe with cold water and run this through a regular coffee cycle with filter in place. Discard this water then run fresh water through several times to rinse the inside.
