Here is how I tackle the hills. As you approach the climb, relax — imagine how your uphill ride would be and enjoy the feeling of reaching the top. Switch into an easier gear to utilize a higher cadence. I prefer a cadence of 90 rpm, but it all depends on your physical strength. As you start the climb, start counting the revolutions in your head. This will relieve you of any anxiety and will distract your mind from feeling the pain. Once you reach a count of 100, switch into the next easier gear and start counting the revolutions from 0. This will get you into a rhythm and will make your climb much easier.
