How Do You Make Clay New Born Dolls?
There is something so enchanting about a new born baby. So much so, that artisans have taken to making new born dolls from clay to capture that enchantment. These realistic miniature babies appear so life-like that, for a moment, you actually think you are looking at a real baby. Clay new born dolls can sell for hundreds of dollar but, for the cost of a block of clay and a few sculpting tools, you can create your own. Roll a piece of polymer clay into a ball about 1 inch in diameter and press it on to the end of a 1/8-by-4 inch dowel. Wrap a small coil around the dowel where the clay ball meets the dowel to stabilize it. Press the ball with the fingers to make it slightly oblong. Press a sculpting tool into the clay to define the brow line and location of the eyes. Add a tiny coil right below the eyes and work it into the shape of the nose.
