How Do You Make Christmas Ornaments From Wisteria Seedpods?
Wisteria is a beautiful vine that blooms with clusters of purple flowers in the spring. Summer finds it covered with lush green foliage, and winter, well, it’s a tangle of brown sticks. But look closely – there is a treasure lurking there. The empty seedpods are velvety spirals, begging to be decorated and hung on your Christmas tree as extraordinary ornaments. Gather dried wisteria seedpods from your dormant wisteria vine. Select those that have opened and dropped their seeds. Split the pods into two pieces if they are still attached at the stem end. Use a small brush to paint the inside of the pods with different colors of metallic paint; gold, green, pink, purple or blue. The outside of the pod is covered naturally with soft gray velvet. Sprinkle glitter on the wet paint if you desire. Pierce the end of the painted seedpod with a stiff wire, once the paint has dried. Make a small loop of wire to act as a hanger. The painted pods hang on the tree resembling icicles.
