How Do You Make Christmas Cutouts Sour Cream Decorated Cookies?
For 30 years, my family has been making Christmas cookies over the Thanksgiving weekend in a huge Cookie Daze celebration. We freeze them and bring them out during the holidays for everyone’s enjoyment–with none of the last minute craziness! This recipe is our favorite cookie to decorate, and the ones we make in the greatest quantity. I’ve included here the recipe for my sister’s Cut Out cookies, some photos of design ideas for decorating, and instructions for how to decorate (frosting, cake decorating sleeves and tips, and some tested ideas for storing the cookies.) We use a KitchenAid mixer-it makes it easier to blend the ingredients. When the soft dough is ready, roll out small amounts of dough on a floured surface with a rolling pin about 1/8″ thick.
