How Do You Make Chicago Style Roast Beef Sandwiches?

This is my great grandmother’s authentic Italian beef sandwich recipe. She immigrated from Italy to Chicago where she perfected her recipe. These beef sandwiches taste just like the ones in Chicago restaurants. To begin making Chicago style roast beef, cut slits in the roast. Slice one garlic clove. Insert sliced garlic cloves into slits. Add more if you like a lot of garlic. Salt and pepper the meat. Set aside. Peel five to eight cloves of garlic. Do not slice. Saute garlic lightly in a frying pan with one to two tablespoons olive oil. Do not burn the garlic. Cook for one to two minutes. Remove just the garlic from pan and set aside. Put the prepared roast in the same pan and brown meat on both sides. Turn slow cooker on high. Or cook the roast beef slowly in the oven in a pan at 275 like great grandma did. The slow cooker works better. Spray or wipe slow cooker with olive oil. Add 1/2 cup of beef broth into slow cooker. Place browned beef and sauteed garlic cloves into slow cooker. C
