How Do You Make Cherry Fruit Squares?
These pretty fruit squares look like you’ve spent hours in the kitchen … but they are ready in a snap. INGREDIENTS: 1 1/2 cups sugar 1 cup margarine or butter, softened 4 eggs 2 cups flour 1 teaspoon vanilla 1 can cherry pie filling In a mixing bowl combine sugar and margarine. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in flour and vanilla. Spread on greased baking sheet with sides. Drop cherry pie filling on with a spoon polka-dot style, leaving batter between each spoonful of pie filling. Should look like this, with each star representing one spoonful of pie filling: * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Cool completely. To serve, slice squares so pie filling is in the middle of each piece. Sprinkle with powdered sugar if desired.
