In the perfect world of money the easiest way to pour concrete would be to get it delivered and poured by a cement truck. Most of the time the job is too small for a truck or it is cost ineffective. Most of us hate mixing concrete with a wheelbarrow and even worse, having to remember how many shovelfuls of sand or gravel we have put in the mix. Some other problems that we face are getting the rocks to stay below the surface and getting the edges smooth and straight. When I was a teenager I worked with a contractor and learned a few good tricks with cement work. Here a few that might help you out. Get a load of sand and a load of gravel. Don’t put the gravel and sand on a tarp or on the cement. Instead get some 5 gallon buckets and as you unload your truck fill the buckets. Make sure that the ground is level.
