How Do You Make Castle Cake Cupcakes?
There are plenty of decorative kids’ birthday cakes out there, but many of them require special cake-sculpting skills or fancy pans. Luckily you can make castle cake and castle cake cupcakes at the last minute, with supplies you probably have on hand. Choose any cake mix, any frosting and any type of castle decor for a wide range of fantastic confections to suit the tastes of almost any birthday kid. Step 1 Mix up the two cake mixes according to the packages’ directions. Bake one mix in the 9-by-13-inch pan, and divide the other between the 8-inch round pan and the cupcake pan. Step 2 Bake the cake carefully, testing for doneness by inserting a fork or toothpick in the center of the cake and making sure that it comes out almost clean. Keep in mind that the cupcakes will probably bake more quickly than the larger cakes. Step 3 Cool the cakes thoroughly, on a cooling rack if you have one. Step 4 Place the large rectangular cake on a serving platter. Cover with a basic layer of frosting.
