How Do You Make Canadian Hunt Camp Baked Beans?

0

Canadian hunt camp baked beans are a slightly different twist on an old favorite. They’ll be popular at any get-together, and this recipe makes a huge batch. It’s a good thing, because your guests will come back for second servings. Rinse the beans thoroughly and soak them overnight in cold water. Place the beans in a covered pot with 1 qt. of the water in which they were soaked. Heat the beans to a boil, and then lower the heat and simmer for approximately 30 minutes. Drain the beans, but set aside the liquid. Mix the drained beans with the rest of the ingredients in a covered Dutch oven, roaster or a large casserole dish. Stir in 3 cups of the reserved water, and then cover and bake the beans for 4 hours at 250 degrees. Take the baked beans out of the oven and add more water if the beans are too thick. Remove 1 cup of beans from the pot, mash them well and stir them back in. Bake the Canadian hunt camp baked beans at 250 degrees for 2 more hours.
