The cabbage soup diet is a quick way to lose weight. Though NO ONE advocates doing this diet long term, it can be a jump start to a more long term diet plan. If you are going to follow the cabbage soup diet, here’s how to make the soup. Step 1 Spray a large stock pot or Dutch oven with cooking spray. Dice onions and sauté until they are translucent. Step 2 Cut peppers, carrots, celery, mushrooms and cabbage into bite sized pieces and add them to the pot with 12 cups of water (or 8 cups water and 48oz of V-8 juice) and the tomatoes.
