How Do You Make Bread Rise Naturally?
Most bread recipes call for the addition of yeast to make the bread rise. Many types of bread can be made without the addition of yeast, as there are yeasts in the air that the bread dough can utilize in order to rise naturally. The simplest way to make bread rise naturally is to make a sponge that has captured natural yeast from the air. Sourdough starter is one such popular sponge for making bread. Combine 1 tsp. sugar and 2 cups flour together. Add 2 cups of water and use a wooden spoon to stir the water and flour into a ball of dough. Dust your work surface with a bit of flour and knead the dough ball until it becomes springy and elastic to the touch. Place the dough ball back into a bowl and set the bowl in a warm area of your kitchen. Cover the bowl with a damp dishcloth or towel. Let the dough ball work for 2 to 3 days. It should naturally begin to rise and will form a bit of a crust on the outside of the ball. Add 1 cup of water and 1 cup of flour to the risen dough ball and wo
