How Do You Make Biscuits From Scratch?
Making biscuits from scratch is not difficult. Below are the steps to how to make biscuits from scratch. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Add 2 cups of self-rising flour in mixing bowl. Also add ¼ cup of flour on cutting board. Add 1 teaspoon of baking powder (optional). I use it because I like the extra rise and fluffiness in my biscuits. Add ½ cup of sugar. Add ¼ cup of shortening. Add 1 cup of buttermilk. Use spoon to start the mixing and finish by kneading the dough by hand on a cutting board or a clean counter top with a sprinkle of flour. Use a rolling pin or a plain tin can without the wrapper to roll out the dough approximately ½ inch thick. Grease your skillet with shortening. Use the tin can to stamp out the biscuits. You should have approximately 7-10 biscuits, depending on the size of the can. View the picture of the stamped out biscuits before being placed in the oven. Place stamped out biscuits in skillet. Place skillet in the skillet of the heated oven. (Approximately 15-20
