Making your own handmade birthday cards and invitations saves money and give your cards a more personal touch. You can find prefolded blank cards or blank postcards (for a one-sided invitation) at your local crafts store and decorate them according to your personal taste. The best thing about making your own card or invitation is that you can make it as detailed or as simple as you or your artistic skills allow. Sketch out your planned design on scratch paper and arrange the stickers and other embellishments like ribbon on top of the card to see how they looks before you attach them for good. Decorate your card with rubber stamps, stickers, glitter and colored pens. A simpler idea would be to glue a recent photo of yourself (or the birthday card recipient) to the front of a birthday card and cut a colored piece of paper around the photo to look like a frame.
