This is a variation of the popular peanut butter soup with an oriental flair. It is sure to be a crowd pleaser. Thai food is typically spicy and often uses peanuts and peanut butter in their recipes. Cook elbow macaroni according to package instructions. Drain reserving some of the liquid, about 1 cup. Using the liquid from the macaroni, soy sauce, 1/2 cup of the wine and the reserved juice from the can of beets, cook the vegetables until tender. Add the ham cubes and beets. Then add the macaroni. Add the sugar. Mix a few shakes of sesame oil with the peanut butter and blend thoroughly in a cup. Add the rest of the wine (1/2 cup) and blend with a fork until there are no lumps. Add this mixture to the soup and stir over a low flame until the soup thickens up somewhat. If it becomes too thick, add more wine. If it is still too thin, add more peanut butter. Serve as a first course or as a main dish. Enjoy!
