How Do You Make Bee Costumes For Children?
You can make a bee costume for either a boy or a girl, easily and in a single evening. The main body of the bee costume is made using an over-sized black sweatshirt, and all of the details are sewn onto it. Use black tights for the legs of the bee costume–or, if you are dressing a boy or experiencing cold temperatures, use black sweatpants. Cut several strips of yellow felt 2 inches wide by the width of the felt yardage. The amount and lengths will be determined by the size of the sweatshirt. Note: If you are using a really small child’s sweatshirt, you may want to cut 1-1/2 inch wide strips. Lay the sweatshirt on your work surface with the back side up. Center, horizontally, the beginning of the felt strip approximately 2 inches below the top of the shirt and pin through the back layer of the shirt.
