How Do You Make Bark Paper For Painting Old Mexico Style?
• Get light brown construction paper and draw your design on it. Do it in pencil. Make sure the paper and design is a little bigger than you want it • Copy the Design with a black sharpie or other permanent marker. This must be done before everything else so you can see your painting lines. • Crumple up the paper. This will give the paper the old used look of bark paper. Then unfold the paper. • Lay the opened crumpled paper on the big wood board. Pour a little water on the paper and move it around. Spread it all over the paper but make sure that the paper is soggy but not dissolving. • Paint the paper with large abstract dabs of black, brown, and reddish brown Tempera Paint. Easy on the Black coating. • Let it sit for a few minutes, but not so it starts drying. • Wash off the paint from the paper. Carry the paper on the board so it doesn’t tear.
