How Do You Make Barbecue Flavored Venison Jerky?
Making jerky is a great way to preserve some of that venison that you just brought home. Barbecue flavored jerky stores well and can be eaten as a snack anytime or it can be taken along on your next hunting trip for a quick snack or as a meal supplement. Place venison strips in pan. Pour soy sauce and barbecue sauce over meat. Add brown sugar and onion powder. Cover and put in refrigerator for several hours or overnight. Cover the bottom of the oven with foil or a large cookie sheet to catch drippings. Insert a toothpick through the ends of the meat and hang on oven racks. Set oven to the lowest setting and dry 12 to 24 hours until the meat starts to harden. Do not allow meat to become hard and brittle. Remove from oven and store for later use.
