Read on to learn how to make applesauce sandwich snacks. Slice French bread into eight 1-inch pieces. Remove butter or margarine from refrigerator to soften. In a small bowl, mix sugar and spices; set aside. Heat a large, heavy skillet over medium high heat on stove. Butter one side of each piece of bread. Spread applesauce on four of the slices and place each, butter side down, in pan. Top with other slice of buttered bread. Cook for four to five minutes, flipping once, until golden brown on both sides. Remove from pan, sprinkle cinnamon/sugar mixture over each sandwich, and cut in halves or quarters to serve.
