How Do You Make Apple Pie Without Refined Sugar?
Bake delicious cookies, pies and cakes without refined sugar. To sweeten, choose maple syrup, rice syrup, molasses, fruit juices (apple, pear, pineapple), or honey, if not baked. Combine bread, cracker, or cookie crumbs with oil and sweetener in a bowl. Fill a nine-inch pie pan with mixture and bake in a 350 degreeF oven for no more than 10 minutes. Mix the apple slices with other ingredients for the filling and place into pie pan (with crumb crust). Sift ingredients for the topping and sprinkle over the filling. Bake the pie in a 350 degree F oven for 35 to 40 minutes or until the apples are translucent and the topping is browned evenly. Do not overbake. Allow to cool completely. To serve, slice and garnish with yogurt or ice cream.
