Spanish vocabulary can be difficult for middle and high school students. This project is designed for Spanish classes studying the family unit and the home. The vocabulary centers on rooms, parts of the home, furniture, family members and pets. Use this as a homework assignment or allow students class time. Making a project like this uses kinesthetic learning skills. Make your own dollhouse project to give your students an example before they begin theirs. Glue four shoe boxes together to form a four-room “house.” Paint the outside of the house a dark color. Add lighter details, like siding or brick, later. Decide which four rooms will make up your house, such as a bedroom, kitchen, den and dining room. Use wrapping paper, construction paper or wall-paper to line the inside walls. Make it look as close as possible to a real house. Use appropriate patterns for each room. Use paint or paper to decorate carpet, hardwood or rugs on the floors.
