Do you have a bunch of long items like pipes and lumber laying around that you need to get off the floor? Well, here is an inexpensive way to store them over the garage door and out of the way. First you need to determine how wide you need your rack to be. Threaded pipe comes in various lengths, usually in 12″-16″ increments or you can have your local home center cut and thread your pipe to any custom length. I used 1/2″ pipe which is strong enough to hold most long items. You will need some “pipe nipple” fittings for 1/2″ pipe. These come in various short lengths also, the size you need will be determined by how much room you have over the garage door. You will also need some 1/2″ pipe “elbows”. You will also need some 1/2″ “floor flanges” Now you simply assemble the pipe and fittings to make a “U” shape (see picture) with a floor flange on both ends facing up. You will need at least 2 of these assemblies and even 3 to store longer items. Once you have your pipe “U”‘s put together you
