How Do You Make An Outdoor Survival Lean-To Shelter?

0

If you need an outdoor survival lean-to, you want one that’s simple to construct and that you can erect in a hurry. This quick shelter is designed to protect you from the wind and rain while still allowing access to a small fire near the opening. Select a flat location, comfortable to lie on and with two trees far enough apart that you can comfortably lie between them. These trees will be the uprights. If possible, use two trees that will allow you to have the opening of the lean-to on the lee side so that the back wall/roof blocks the wind. Get a sturdy sapling long enough to span the distance between the two uprights. This will serve as the support beam. If you have rope or twine, lash it to the uprights so that it is parallel to the ground. In warm weather lash the support beam at chest height; in more inclement weather make it low enough that the tallest member of your party can sit upright underneath it. If you do not have any rope or twine, move on to Step 3. Use Y-shaped sticks
