How Do You Make An Old Fashioned Cream Pie?

0

Old fashioned cream pie is great and can be transformed into a banana cream, chocolate cream or coconut cream pie. Step 1 Mix the sugar, salt, cornstarch and flour in a saucepan. Step 2 Stir in the milk gradually. Step 3 Cook the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly until it thickens and begins to boil. Step 4 Boil it for 1 minute and then remove from heat. Step 5 Stir a cup of the hot mixture in with the slightly beaten egg yolks. Step 6 Put the egg mixture back into the saucepan with the rest of the hot mixture. Blend. Step 7 Place back on heat and boil for 1 more minute stirring constantly. Step 8 Blend in the butter and vanilla extract. Then pour into a baked pie crust. Step 9 For a banana cream pie: Slice 3 large bananas into the bottom of the pie shell. Step 10 For a chocolate cream pie: Increase the sugar to 1 1/2 cups and add in 3-ounces of melted unsweetened chocolate with the milk. Step 11 For a coconut cream pie: Add in 3/4 cup of shredded coconut.
