When your office chair fabric begins to wear out, you don’t have to throw the chair away. Instead, make a cover for your office chair. Here’s how. Step 1 Remove the back and seat of the chair. The chair has screws on the bottom that hold the seat in place. There also may be screws on the back holding it on. Step 2 Measure the cushions to find the correct measurements for the back and bottom of the office chair. If the back and bottom are one solid piece, decide whether to cover the entire piece or to cover the back and seat separately. Step 3 Add 6 inches to the measurements. Cut the fabric. For example, if the seat is 2-feet wide, the total width for the cut is 2 feet, 6 inches. If you are making one piece to cover the top and the bottom, include the measurement from the connecting piece. Many one-piece chair covers look like an hourglass when cut.
