Here’s how to make your edible instrument. Step 1 Wash your carrot and use the paring knife to cut about an inch from the tip of the carrot. Step 2 Drill out the inside of the carrot, starting at the tip and leaving about 1/4 inch all around the sides. Do not drill all the way through the bottom. Leave about 2 inches of solid carrot at the stalk end for now. Step 3 Cut a 1/2-inch horizontal slit into the carrot, 1 inch from the opening. Cut two small slits, 1/2 inch long, from the ends of the first cut, downward toward the thick end of the carrot. Whittle away the carrot between the two horizontal cuts and the first cut to make a slope from the first cut to the outside of the carrot.
