How Do You Make An Herbal Hot/Cold Pack?
Ever twisted your ankle and then hobbled around trying to find a towel to put some ice cubes in or had a muscle cramp and tried to figure out what you did with your heating pad or hot water bottle? Now you can make your own herbal hot/cold pack. Actually you can make two – keep one in the freezer and the other near your microwave – here’s how! Gather all your materials in a central location. Lay out the material and decide how large you want to make your hot/cold pack. Cut out a rectangular shape from the material twice as long as you want your pack and the same width – i.e. if you want a pack to use for bumps, bruises, sprains or strains; measure out 4.5 inches wide by 18 inches long. Match right sides of the material and sew around the 3 open sides, leaving an opening about 1-2 inches long. Turn the pack right side out. Mix together your flax seed, dried herbs and a few drops of essential oil. Using a funnel, fill the pack with your flax/herb mixture to within 1-2 inches of the top.
