How Do You Make An Artificial Limb For A Science Fair Project?

0

Your next science fair project don’t need to be a nerve-racking, last-minute scrambling affair. Creating an artificial limb, such as an arm and hand, is easily done with a type of paper mache using liquid fabric starch. Adding fake fingernails adds extra realism. This is a project kids will enjoy, and it can be finished in a weekend with little parental supervision. Glue five pipe cleaners partially inside the end of a toilet paper tube and bend them so that they resemble fingers. Place the toilet paper tube end without the “fingers” next to the end of the first paper towel tube. Tape the toilet paper tube end to the end of the paper towel tube. Taping does not have to be neat because it will be covered with paper mache. Position the second paper towel tube beside the first one. The two ends should form a slight angle, which mimics the elbow of a slightly bent arm. Tape the tubes together in this position. Tear the newspaper into pieces approximately 3 to 5 inches wide by 3 to 5 inches
