How Do You Make An Actual Lava Lamp?
Lava lamps are dynamic toys in which wax and saline solution are closely balanced in density. The heated wax rises–because of a slight increase in volume–and the cooled wax sinks. The lamp benefits from water and oil’s inability to mix chemically. You can make your own lava lamp using candles of your favorite color. Select a bottle. A clear wine bottle would do. Generally, what you’re looking for is a tall, slender bottle with a screw-on cap. This shape allows heat dissipation, so the bottom is warmed by a light and the top is cooler. Cut a square or triangle out of the bottom of an aluminum pot. Cut a small triangle in the lip with a circular saw or nibbler tool. You may have to remove the pot handle also, so it can be level upside-down. Screw a 35-watt bulb into a lamp socket. Plug the lamp wiring into a dimmer that’s plugged into a wall socket. Select candles in whatever color you want the “lava” to be. Chop the candles up into small pieces and remove the wick strings. Obtain 2 cu
