How Do You Make An Abbey Cocktail?
The Abbey Cocktail is a British favorite and is a sophisticated choice for virtually any occasion. It is heavy on citrus notes, which blend well with its primary spirit, gin, and the Abbey Cocktail is also appropriate when served as a martini. Here’s how to make one: Fill the martini shaker approximately 2/3 full of ice. Pour the gin, orange bitters, and orange juice into the martini shaker. Place the martini shaker’s lid firmly on and make sure that it is properly secured. Shake the mixture vigorously for 15-30 seconds. Place the maraschino cherry in the bottom of the cocktail glass if you wish to have it as garnish. Strain the mixture out of the martini shaker and into the cocktail glass, removing any chunks of ice that slip through during the straining process. Garnish with a slice of orange on the rim of the cocktail glass. Serve immediately.
