How Do You Make Alfajores De Marjarblanco (Traditional Peruvian Cookie)?
As a child we looked forward to Christmas, because along with the gifts that were exchange it was time for Alfajores de Marjarblanco. Mom would only make these delicious melt in your mouth cookies only at Christmas. A tradition in every Peruvian Household. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In a large bowl sift flour. Add sugar and salt. Mix dry ingredients with a pastry blender or fork, add anise seeds continue to mix. (Working dough with a pastry blender or fork) add lard gradually and work the dough till its coarse. The dough will look chunky. Add milk gradually and continue to blend with pastry fork. Once dough has been blended together, take a section and roll into a ball. Place on a lightly floured counter and roll dough with a floured rolling pin. Dust counter and/or rolling pin, as needed so as dough will not stick. Roll dough out about 1/8″ thick. Cut out wafers with a small shot glass. Place wafer onto a cookie sheet about ½ inch apart. Bake for 12 – 15 minutes or until golden brow
