How Do You Make A Worm Bin From Kitty Litter Buckets?
You have plants and want them to thrive? Buying compost or other fertilizers can be expensive. Why not make it yourself using a worm bin? Buying a pre-made worm bin is expensive, so make it yourself with stuff you can get for free! Clean out the buckets. Clean them lightly. I just rinse them out with a tiny bit of bleach Drill a bunch of 1/8th inch holes in the bottom of one bucket. This set of holes allows the liquid to drain out the bottom. The liquid that is drained out can be used as a fertilizer as well, just pour it on your plants. I probably have 30-40 holes in the bottom of this one. Drill holes around top edge of same bucket, about 1 to 2 inches from the top. This allows for air circulation. Without them your worms will suffocate and your food will just rot. You should end up with about 6-8 holes on each of the four sides. Place bucket with holes in the one with no holes. Half fill with damp shredded newspaper.
